Midas 10/15/98 King Midas touched and turned to gold Made his kingdom metallic cold And would have given up this power To be with loved ones one more hour At first he touched and made men rich The banks did grow with greedy itch But gold is precious for its rarity So happiness is in so much parody Like King Midas my touch is fateful The happiness will end up hateful I try to not touch all that I cherish So that my loves will not all perish The unfortunate result of such withdrawl Is that the gold is not at all No happiness is mine to give When from afar I'm forced to live If I could be given one more chance To closer stand and nearer dance I would give up this Midas power And be with loved ones every hour
