Tonight the darkness seems feeble
Twinkling stars pierce
Through thick black void
Like a mockery of the night

My eyes also a mockery
Split the black with a sharp edge
Showing midnight as if noon
And describe crisp shadows

A twilight skyline
Warm and glowing and comforting
Traced out for me
By the stars
